Hoffmann Named to NFHCA Division I Senior Team

Syracuse graduate student Carolin Hoffmann is one of 38 Division I field hockey players named to the NFHCA Senior Team. Student-athletes are nominated by their coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.Â
The Senior Team was announced during a live video presentation on Monday afternoon, in lieu of the traditional coach-led trophy presentation at the NFHCA Senior Games, which were cancelled due to limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the video announcement, a custom t-shirt featuring the names of all Senior Team members was created in honor of the award The t-shirts will be delivered to each honoree — along with a commemorative trophy — in the coming weeks.
Hoffmann wrapped up her illustrious Syracuse career on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to #5 Maryland in the Elite Eight. Hoffmann's leadership and play in the midfield was instrumental in guiding Syracuse to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2016 and 10th time in program history. Hoffmann scored two goals and added two assists this season for six points. She was named ACC and National Defender of the Week the first week of October after helping the Orange to a pair of shutout wins over North Carolina (5-0) and Columbia (3-0).
Hoffmann earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team honors and was an ACC All-Tournament Team selection.Â
