
Kent Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Graduate defender Max Kent has earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team honors. Kent is the third member of the Orange men's soccer program to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Hendrik Hilpert earned 2017 and 2018 Academic All-America honors and Gabriel Gervais was honored in 2000.

Kent is enrolled in Syracuse's Master of Public Administration program and has a 3.98 grade point average. He completed his Syracuse University capstone serving as a graduate consultant at Refugee and Immigrant Self-Empowerment (RISE) in Syracuse. Kent completed his undergraduate studies at Macalester College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a minor in data science and economics.

The Minneapolis, Minn. native transferred to Syracuse to complete his graduate degree and fulfill eligibility. He did not play in any games for the Orange last year. A team captain for the 2021-22 Orange, Kent started 16 of 18 games as the heart of the defense at center back. He tallied two goals and one assist. Prior to coming to Syracuse, he played for three years for Macalester College, earning 2017 and 2018 USC All-North Region Team honors, 2017 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) all-conference honors and recognition on the 2018 MIAC All-Academic Team.Â
CoSIDA, College Sports Information Directors of America, began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, announcing thousands of deserving student-athletes every year since then. The honor recognizes student-athletes that have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests with a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.
