Florence Vaillancourt, the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Year, has announced her intention to enroll at Syracuse University and compete with the women's soccer team. Vaillancourt, a junior, plans to register for Syracuse classes in the spring semester.
Vaillancourt, who started all 17 games she played in this fall, led Niagara with 13 goals, 10 assists and 36 points. In addition to earning first team all-conference recognition, Vaillancourt was named to the 2021 MAAC All-Academic Soccer Team, which required a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.2 (4.0 scale).
COACH NICKY THRASHER-ADAMS SAID:
"I am so thrilled to add Florence to our Orange Family! She has proven to be a high-quality goal scorer in her time at Niagara and we are so excited she will now be scoring her goals for Syracuse."
Vaillancourt helped Niagara to a 13-4-1 overall record and 7-3 mark in the MAACÂ in 2021. She tallied five game-winning goals for the Purple Eagles. One of her better outings was a three-goal performance that help Niagara defeat Syracuse, 4-2, on August 26.
A native of Quebec City, Vaillancourt attended Seminaire Des Peres Maristes before starting her collegiate career at Niagara.
