SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The almost two-week hiatus comes to an end as the Orange have a pair of ACC matchups this weekend. The Orange take on No. 34 Miami on Friday, March 12 at 3 p.m. and No. 7 Florida State on Sunday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
The Orange split their last two matches. They defeated Virginia Tech, 4-3, then lost to Virginia, 4-3. In both matches Syracuse secured the doubles point.

Against Virginia Tech the 'Cuse took the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. The top duo of Natalie Novotna and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya won 6-3 and the No. 2 pair of Polina Kozyreva and Sofya Treshcheva won 6-1. On the singles side, Treshcheva secured the second point for the Orange, defeating Annie Clark 6-1, 6-1 in No. 6 singles. Kozyreva secured Syracuse's third point with a victory over Shene Disbergen 6-2, 6-0. After the Hokies took No. 4 singles, Kanapatskaya won her fourth straight in No. 1 singles to seal the deal, defeating senior Nika Kozar, 6-1, 6-3.

Against Virginia, Syracuse took the doubles point again. After Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova were defeated in No. 3 doubles, Kozyreva and Treshcheva tied it up with a victory in No. 1. Novotna and Kanapatskaya took the victory in No. 2 to secure the point, 7-6 (7-3). The Cavaliers took four straight singles matches to win the match.

A bright spot on the singles side was Kanapatskaya won her fifth straight in No. 2 singles. She was subsequently named the ACC Player and Freshman of the Week.

SCOUTING MIAMI
The Hurricanes sit at 3-5 thus far. They have lost back-to-back matches against No. 1 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke. Syracuse and Miami have yet to play the same opponent. Coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews has been with the program for 24 years, 20 as the head coach. She boasts a 362-123 record at the helm.

The last time these two teams played was in Spring 2019 when the Hurricanes defeated the Orange 5-2. Â

SCOUTING FLORIDA STATE
No. 7 Florida State's six-match win streak was snapped as it also lost back-to-back matches to Duke and North Carolina. They are led by coach Jennifer Hyde, who is in her 17th season with the program and 22nd as the head coach. At Florida State she has made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances and has a 252-158 record.
