Syracuse senior Chiara Gutsche has been selected to the 2020 NFHCA Division I Senior Team, announced Wednesday by the NFHCA. Gutsche is one of 38 student-athletes who played or would have played their senior season during the 2020-21 academic year. The in-person 2020 NFHCA Senior Game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gutsche helped the Orange to an 8-8 record this year and a 4-6 slate in the ACC. The Orange were nationally-ranked all spring season, peaking at No. 8 in week three. Gutsche appeared in 15 of the Orange's 16 games this season scoring two goals and adding one assist for five points. She began the spring season with two goals in a win against St. Joseph's on March 7 and tallied an assist against Towson the following weekend on March 14.Â
Gutsche is one of five student-athletes from an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) program on the list and is joined by Louisville's Mercedes Pastor and Meghan Schneider and North Carolina's Amanda Hendry and Courtnie Williamson.Â
