After a compelling 3-1 road win over No. 3 Boston College to open up Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play last Friday night, the No. 12 Orange continue their five-game road stretch with a midweek non-conference game at Cornell (2-2) on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.Â
The Orange jumped up two spots in Tuesday's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll to No. 12 this week after going 1-0 last week. Syracuse has won back-to-back games against nationally-ranked opponents and will face a Red Bears' team that lost a close 3-2 battle with No. 1 Michigan this past Sunday. Syracuse's SJ Quigley was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts against Boston College which included holding the Eagles' scoring threat Margo Carlin to one shot and the BC offense to their fewest shot total of the season (7). Syracuse scored all three goals in open play in the win with junior Charlotte de Vries, sophomore Florine van Boetzalaer and graduate student Quirine Comans all tallied goals.Â
Cornell is led this season by Caroline Ramsey who has a team-high four goals and two assists for 10 points this season. Each of the last two games have resulted in a one-goal loss for Cornell, who will play their fifth home game of the season on Wednesday afternoon.Â
Following Wednesday's game, the Orange wrap up their five-game road stretch at UPenn on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. on ESPN+. Syracuse will next play at home on Friday, Oct. 1 when they host North Carolina at 4 p.m. on ACC Network.Â
