Syracuse (4-4-1. 0-2 ACC) faces one of the stingiest defensive teams in the country when it hosts ACC rival Wake Forest (9-1, 1-1) on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
Fans unable to attend the game in person will be able to watch Syracuse vs. Louisville on ACC Network Extra.
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse suffered a tough, 2-1 loss to Louisville on Thursday. The Orange rallied from a 1-0 deficit with a strong second half and senior Meghan Root's goal knotted the score. With less than a minute to go in regulation, the Orange were called for a foul in the box and the Cards converted the penalty kick to clinch a 2-1 victory.
Wake Forest won its first conference match of the campaign by beating Boston College on the road, 1-0.
THE SYRACUSE-WAKE FOREST SERIES
The Demon Deacons lead the all-time series with Syracuse, 5-2-1.Â
The Orange won the most recent pairing with Wake Forest, 2-1, in 2019.
LAUHER JOINS FRESHMAN SCORERS FOR ORANGE
First-year performer Kendyl Lauher helped the Orange get back into the Louisville match, providing Root with a lead pass that lead to the game-tying score. She became the fourth rookie on the team to produce a point, joining Kylen Grant, Pauline Machtens and Ashley Rauch.
TOSSING ZEROS
Wake Forest has posted nine shutouts this season and given up only one goal to date. The team's 0.11 goals-against average leads all of Division 1. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks ranks second among all keepers in Division 1 with a 0.12 goals-against average.
The lone blemish came against #7 Virginia in a contest won by the Cavaliers, 1-0.
50 YEARS OF WOMEN'S ATHLETICS AT SYRACUSE
Orange alumni, fans and friends are invited to share in a year-long celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University women's athletics. Events and special recognition of all female student-athletes who have donned the Block S to represent Syracuse University and the Athletics Department since 1971-72 will be held throughout the 2021-22 seasons.

Admission to the match is free. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy.
