The Orange varsity eight won the collegiate eight race and the three Syracuse fours swept the collegiate fours event at the Head of the Fish on Saturday in Saratoga, N.Y. Syracuse raced four eights and three fours at the regatta, providing the first college race experience for all Orange newcomers who did not compete at the Head of the Charles.
Â
"What stands out about today is how fun it was to see our freshmen go down the course in the Block S for the first time and to see the strong performance across the board, which displays the depth of our program. We saw it in the eights and the fours today," said head coach Luke McGee. "It was exciting to see the fours coming down the course in the top three spots battling with each other and challenging ourselves to race as hard as we could."
