
Syracuse and Vermont Set for NCAA Championship Quarterfinal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the second time in school history, Syracuse men's soccer will host an NCAA Championship Quarterfinal on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 PM. The Orange take on Vermont for a second time this season. The two programs first met on Sept. 2, as Syracuse drew with the Catamounts on the road.
Tickets for the Elite 8 match start at $10 for the general public, $5 for senior citizens and youth ages 18 & under and free for the first 200 Syracuse University students with a valid Syracuse ID. Gates open at the SU Soccer Stadium at 1 p.m.
A late goal from sophomore forward Giona Leibold propelled Syracuse past instate rival Cornell 1-0 in the NCAA Championship Third Round. The Orange outshot the Big Red, 16-9, as the Syracuse defense kept its 11th clean sheet of the season. Redshirt-senior goalkeeper Russell Shealy finished with two saves and assisted Leibold on the match-winning goal.
The Orange are back in the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals for the first time since 2015. Syracuse beat Boston College, 1-0, as a 79th minute goal from Ben Polk sent 'Cuse to the College Cup for the first time in program history.
