
Giorgio Competing With Canada U20 Team

Freshman Sierra Giorgio was selected to compete with Canada's Under-20 squad that is attempting to qualify for the 2022 Concacaf Women's Championship. Giorgio, a goalkeeper, was one of 20 players chosen.
Giorgio, who is in her first year at Syracuse, is one of two goalkeepers on the 20-person club. She is one of three ACC student-athletes who made the team.
Canada begins its quest to qualify at a qualifying tournament in the Dominican Republic. The team is in Group G. Canada is scheduled to face St. Kitts & Nevis (Feb. 25), El Salvador (Feb. 27) and Trinidad and Tobago (March 1). Three nations will advance out of Group G and enter the knockout phase.
This is the first Concacaf youth tournament since the global pandemic. The 2020 and 2021 events were both canceled.
Giorgio is a native of Vaughn, Ontario. She previously was selected to Canada's Under-15 and Under-17 teams.
