6/9/2022 9:58:00 AM | Women's Soccer
Six programs that earned 2021 NCAA playoff spots highlight the 18-game, 2022 schedule, for the Syracuse women's soccer team. The slate includes 11 regular-season matches at the SU Soccer Stadium.
"We are so excited to welcome so many quality opponents to Syracuse this fall," said Syracuse Coach Nicky Thrasher Adams. "We have a particularly challenging non-conference slate that will help prepare us for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) portion of the schedule.
"The team exhibited tremendous growth during our spring workouts. The addition of some talented newcomers has us all looking forward to the start of preseason practices, followed by the chance to play in front of our amazing Orange fans!"
Schedule Notes:
Syracuse was 4-12-1 in an injury-plagued 2021 season, Coach Thrasher Adams' third at the helm. The Orange have 16 returning letter winners, including six starters, back on the roster. Ten newcomers will bolster the group.
Two of the returning performers, sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Giorgio and sophomore midfielder Pauline Machtens, will be involved in international competition this summer. Giorgio is with Canada and Machtens with Germany for the 2022 FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup. Competition in Costa Rica is scheduled for August 10-18.
