The 2022 Syracuse University Volleyball Schedule has been announced. The Orange begin their first season under the direction of new head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam with an exhibition game against in-state foe Binghamton at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20. Syracuse has 12 regular season home games scheduled this season. Admission to all Syracuse Volleyball regular season games are free at the Women's Building.Â
"I think this is a well-rounded schedule that will allow us to test this new team against some good competition," Ganesharatnam said. "We are looking forward to working with this new group and creating a strong foundation that will allow us to be successful for many years to come. I am excited to work together to create a culture of discipline, honest work and success!"Â
The Orange begin the regular season on the road traveling to back-to-back tournaments. From August 26-27 'Cuse will travel to Charlotte, N.C., for the Charlotte Invitational to play Campbell, Wofford and Charlotte. The following weekend the Orange head to the Sunshine State for Central Florida's UCF Challenge where they will play a pair of 2021 NCAA Tournament teams in Kansas State and UCF. The final game of the UCF Challenge pits 'Cuse against North Florida on Saturday, Sept. 3.Â
Syracuse hosts a pair of in-state rivals, Hofstra and Army, as well as Yale for this year's home tournament Sept. 9-10. The Orange begin their home slate against Hofstra at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9. The final tune-up before ACC play will be a neutral site game against Bryant at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 in Storrs, Conn.Â
Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play approaches quickly with the Orange beginning conference games on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at home against Boston College. The Orange also host Duke (Sept. 23) during the first week of league play and wraps up September at Wake Forest on the 30th.Â
October will be a true road test for the Orange as five of their eight games are away from the friendly confines of the Women's Building. Syracuse begins the month at Virginia Tech (Oct. 2) then has back-to-back home games against Notre Dame (Oct. 7) and Louisville (Oct. 9) before a four-game road stretch to NC State, North Carolina, Clemson and Georgia Tech. Syracuse then heads home for four-straight games against Florida State, Miami, Pittsburgh and Virginia. 'Cuse closes out the season with three of their last four games on the road and will complete the regular season at home on Saturday, Nov. 26 against NC State.Â
Nine teams on Syracuse's 2022 scheduled appeared in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, including three ACC teams that played in the Elite Eight (Louisville, Georgia Tech and Pitt).Â
The Orange return six players from last season's squad that went 17-13 overall including All-Region selection Polina Shemanova who returns for her fifth year with the Orange.Â
