The Orange (1-0-0) take on long-time nemesis UConn (0-0-1) in the second of five consecutive home games on Sunday, August 21, at 1 p.m. in the SU Soccer Stadium.

Admission to the match is free.

MATCHUP OF UNBEATENS
Sunday's pairing of the Orange and Huskies features two undefeated teams.

Syracuse won its opener, 2-1, against New Hampshire on Aug. 18. Sophomore Erin Flurey tallied her first collegiate goal and senior Florence Vaillancourt, a transfer from Niagara, found the back of the net for the first time in an Orange uniform. Senior goalkeeper Michaela Walsh was successful in her first start with Syracuse, making four saves along the way.

UConn emerged from an encounter at Army West Point on Thursday with a 1-1 draw. Sophomore Abbey Jones helped rally the Huskies from a one-goal deficit with a tally at the 84:48 mark. Junior Kaitlyn Mahoney handled net-keeping chores for UConn.

THE SYRACUSE-UCONN SERIES
UConn has won 20 of the 24 all-time matches with Syracuse, including a 3-0 decision last season in Storrs, Conn. The Orange won the time before that, 2-1, in the 2018 campaign. The series dates back to 1997.

NOTABLE NOTES

Syracuse graduate student Jenna Tivnan enters Sunday's game with a squad-leading 49 career starts.
The Orange roster was bolstered by the return of sophomores Paula Machtens and Sierra Giorgio. Each competed in the FIFA U-20 World Cup conducted in Costa Rica. Machtens represented Germany, while Giorgio was on the Canadian team. Their respective teams did not advance beyond pool play and both returned to Syracuse on Aug. 18.
A number of freshmen saw their first collegiate game action against New Hampshire on Thursday, including Alyssa Abramson, Grace Gillard, Maya McDermott, Anna Rupert and Gina Savella.
Transfer students Chelsea Domond and Vaillancourt also saw field time for the first time at Syracuse. They teamed on the game-winning goal, with Domond sending a perfect feed ahead to Vaillancourt, who finished the run with a tally.
