Syracuse (1-1-0) and Lafayette (0-2-0) meet for the first time in women's soccer when the two programs clash on Thursday, August 25, at the SU Soccer Stadium. The contest is game two of a men's-women's doubleheader. The Syracuse men open their 2022 campaign against Iona at 5 p.m.
Syracuse Status:
The Orange are 1-1 heading into the pairing with the Leopards. Syracuse defeated New Hampshire before losing to Connecticut.
Coach Nicky Thrasher Adams has continued a deliberate rebuild with the Orange program. She is working with a youthful roster that features 19 freshmen and sophomores. Erin Flurey, a redshirt sophomore who missed all of last season with an injury, has unleashed a squad-best nine shots to date. Another first-year performer, graduate student Chelsea Domond, is right behind Flurey with eight shot attempts.Â
Lafayette Status:
The visitors come to the SU Soccer Stadium following losses to Quinnipiac and Hartford. Coach Mick Statham is in his 17th season in charge of the Leopard women's program.
Junior Lindsay Dewar and Senior Natalie Neumann have evenly split time in goal for Lafayette this season. They have each played one half of the first two contests.
