Syracuse joins the 'Hockey Fights Cancer' movement tonight when #5 Clarkson visits Tennity Ice Pavilion for a 5 pm game (Cuse.com). Hockey Fights Cancer unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. Together, everyone involved with the sport of hockey looks to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with, going through, and moving past cancer.
Â
On the ice, Syracuse and Clarkson have played each other in every season since 2010-11. Senior forward Tatum White will play in her 100th career game in the Block S, joining 46 other Syracuse skaters to achieve that milestone. Current forwards Marielle McHale (146 games) and Sarah Thompson (102 games) are also in the 100 Games Played Club.
Â
Clarkson is one of four ranked opponents on the Syracuse schedule this season, while two others are receiving votes in the poll. The opponents include #3 Colgate, #5 Clarkson, #6 St. Lawrence, #8 Cornell, with Penn State and Mercyhurst in the also receiving votes category.
Â
The Hockey Fights Cancer initiative aims to continue to create awareness about the need for support for all affected by cancer. Hockey Fights Cancer was founded in 1998 by the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA). Since its inception, the Hockey Fights Cancerâ„¢ program has resulted in donations of more than $20 million to support the cancer programs of local and national cancer research institutions, children's hospitals, player charities, and local charities.
