Men's Rowing Has Successful Day at Cornell Fall Classic
11/4/2023 4:46:00 PM | Men's Rowing
The Syracuse men's rowing team had a successful final day of fall racing on Saturday morning at the Cornell Fall Classic on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, N.Y.
"I thought the guys did a great job not getting caught up of it being race day and just going out and having fun and racing," Head Coach Dave Reischman said. "We've had some interesting practices the last couple of weeks since the [Head of the] Charles, a lot of guys in and out with illness and injury and the guys just absorbed all that, went out and got it done. I thought we did a good job handling things and it was just a good performance by the whole squad."
The Orange Varsity Eight (1V8) was the top finisher in the morning flight of the five-kilometer course that began at the inlet and finished the final 3k on the lake. In the second flight of the day, the men's four edged Dartmouth by 0.6 seconds to finish at the top.
"It was a good day of racing," Lachlan Doust, a senior captain and member of the 1V8 said after the races. "The boys came out here with some good intent early and it was pretty nerve wracking lining up for a two-by-5k, but we did well."
The fall season is now complete for the Orange who will spend the next four months training for the spring season which begins in April. The 2024 spring race schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
