#9 Men's Rowing Begins Season at Pac-12 Invite

The Syracuse men's rowing team starts its spring campaign on the west coast this weekend at Redwood Shores, Calif., for the Pac-12 Invite. The Orange, who debuted at No. 9 in the IRCA/IRA Men's Varsity 8 Poll to begin the season, will line up with No. 8 Stanford on Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. (PT) and No. 20 Oregon State at 3:20 p.m. (PT). 'Cuse finishes the weekend on Sunday, April 7 racing defending national champion No. 1 California at 9 a.m.

The Orange traveled 20 student athletes to compete in their top two boats, including two spares. Syracuse's varsity eight has several new faces to the boat from last year's squad including senior coxswain Michael Harris. Isaac Evans (2) and Joe Willis (6) return to the boat from last year's squad that finished fifth at the IRA Championship Regatta. Declan Fry is stroke seat, who sat in the same spot for SU's eight that reached the finals of Henley last summer, while Mack Carr, Ben Campbell-Reide, Ethan Graha, Sean McHugh, and Jack Gorman round out the top boat.

In the 2V8, sophomore Anders Erlandsen is sitting stroke seat while Joe Biondolillo is coxswain. Alex DeGrado, Luke Dunleavy, Stevan Chuck, Cole Nordby, Beck Honebein, Payton Gauthier, and Max McFadden make up the second boat while junior Scott Zimmerman and senior Reilly Eagan will rotate in as spares during the three-race weekend.
