
'Cuse Returns Home to Face UNC in ACC Semifinals

No. 22 Syracuse returns home to the SU Soccer Stadium to host No. 13 North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. in the ACC Championship Semifinals.
Tickets for the ACC Championship Semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 8 will cost $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and youth ages 18 and under. Students from any ACC member institution will be admitted free of charged with a valid school ID. Tickets can be purchased here. Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at 5 p.m.

The No. 22 Orange opened postseason play with a 5-0 win over NC State in the ACC Championship First Round on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The five goals were the most in an ACC postseason game in program history.

'Cuse then hit the road and defeated No. 9 Virginia, who was the three seed in the conference championship. The Cavaliers scored in the 51st minute before Mateo Leveque netted the equalizer at 83:27. With the game level at 1-1, the teams played two 10-minute overtime periods before heading to the penalty kick shootout. After missing on its first attempt, Syracuse went on to make its next four attempts. Holding a 2-1 advantage, Virginia missed two of its final three penalty kick attempts, setting up Diaz Bonilla's game winner in the fifth round.

This is the second straight season Syracuse has defeated Virginia in penalty kicks in the ACC Tournament. The Orange won the penalty kick portion of the match, 5-3, on Nov. 9, to advance to the ACC Championship game.

North Carolina advanced to the semifinal after beating Wake Forest, 1-0, on Sunday.

The Orange are the No. 6 seed in the ACC Championship while the Tar Heels are the seven seed.
