
Syracuse Opens ACC Play at #4 Clemson

SYRACUSE, N.Y – Syracuse softball begins Atlantic Coast Conference play on Mar. 4 and Mar. 5, as the Orange head to No. 4 Clemson. 'Cuse and Clemson take the diamond on Saturday, Mar. 4 with a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader. The series finale is at noon on Sunday, Mar. 5. All games will be streaming on ACC Network Extra.

ORANGE UPDATE:
- The Orange hold a 6-6 record, going 3-2 at the Lowcountry Classic in Charleston, S.C.
- Syracuse beat tournament host Charleston and split a pair of two-game series against Robert Morris and Rutgers.
- 'Cuse came up clutch in Charleston, as all three wins were decided by one run.
- Syracuse played its first extra-innings game of the season, beating the Scarlett Knights, 2-1, in eight innings.
- Angie Ramos starred at the Lowcountry Classic, recording a team-high six hits and two RBIs in 14 at-bats.
- The Orange pitching staff held opponents at the Lowcountry Classic to a .191 batting average.
LIGHTS OUT LINDSEY:
- Junior left-handed pitcher Lindsey Hendrix excelled in the circle in Charleston.
- In her three-starts at the Lowcountry Classic, Hendrix logged 16 strikeouts and a 2.12 earned run average over 17 innings.
- The Orlando, Florida native's best start of the season came against Robert Morris in a 3-2 win. Hendrix threw a complete game, allowing one hit and striking out seven.
AMAZIN' ANGEL:
- Junior center fielder Angel Jasso is picking up right where she left off in 2022.
- The Angleton, Texas native hit Syracuse's first home run of the season against North Florida.
- Jasso leads the team in hits (13), slugging percentage (.452) and is second in batting average (.310).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Clemson is ranked No. 4 in the country, holding a 17-1 record, the best in the ACC.
- The Tigers lead the conference in batting average (.367), runs (133), slugging percentage (.614) and earned run average (0.86).
- Junior utility and pitcher Valerie Cagle leads the team in batting average (.508), on-base plus slugging (1.554) and is third on the squad in earned run average over a team high 46.1 innings.
THE SERIES:
- The weekend slate represents the second series between Syracuse and Clemson. The Tigers lead the all-time series, 3-1.
- They first met in 2021 at the Skytop Softball Stadium. Clemson took home wins on Friday and Sunday, as a Saturday doubleheader was split.
- Syracuse and Clemson meet at McWhorter Field for the first time.
- Saturday, Mar. 4th: at Clemson, 1 p.m. (McWhorter Stadium)
