Carney Added to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse graduate student Megan Carney is one of 14 additions to the Watch List for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award, which honors the top female and male lacrosse players in the nation. The list of additions was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday, March 8.

Carney is one of the leading goal scorers in the nation this season. She ranks ninth in the most recent Division I statistics with 23 goals and 10th in goals per game (3.83). Carney has scored four or more goals in five of the Orange's six games this season.

The McKinney, Texas native joins fellow Orange Meaghan Tyrrell, Kate Mashewske, Emma Tyrrell and Emma Ward on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

The second round of Watch List additions will be announced on March 31. The field will be narrowed to 25 women's and 25 men's nominees on April 20. Five women's and five men's finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 1.
