Orange Post Six Event Wins at Gotham Cup

It was a dominant day on the track at the NYC Gotham Cup, with Syracuse runners claiming six of the eight events the Orange were entered in.
The Orange started the day by sweeping the top spots in both 60-meter hurdles races. The women went one through four, followed by the men taking the top-six spots.
Shaleah Colaire won the women's final with a time of 8.42 seconds, just 0.03 off her career best, followed by Taleea Buxton (8.63 seconds), Peyton Rollins (9.00 seconds) and CJ Fox (9.13 seconds).
Anthony Vazquez set a new PR in the men's final, crossing the line in 7.91 seconds to earn the win. Naseem Smith (8.04 seconds) was second, followed in succession by Isaiah Lewis (8.07 seconds), David Peters (8.12 seconds), Xayvion Perkins (8.31 seconds) and Emanuel Joseph (8.32 seconds).
Kahniya James continued the winning streak, crossing the line of the 60-meter dash final in 7.61 seconds. Kaleia Arrington was second in 7.73 seconds. Olivia Garner was fourth in 7.78 seconds, followed one place behind by Morgan Marshall (7.94 seconds). Rollins took seventh in 8.04 seconds. In the men's race, Daijon Richards took fourth overall, but was the top collegiate finisher, with a time of 7.02 seconds.
James added another victory in the final race of the day, setting a new PR in the 200-meter dash (24.67 seconds). Colaire was second in 24.92 seconds, followed by Arrington in third (25.09 seconds). Garner took eighth overall with a mark of 25.69 seconds and Shayla Ford turned in a time of 26.06 seconds, which was good for 14th.
The men's 200 also featured a victory, with Trei Thorogood clearing the field by 0.40 seconds. He finished with a time of 21.21. Teammate James Nmah was fourth overall (second among collegiate competitors) with a time of 22.01 seconds.
Elijah Mallard won the fourth event of the day for the Orange, setting a new PR in the 400-meter dash. He finished 0.56 seconds clear of the field in a time of 48.01 seconds. Perkins (50.44 seconds) and Nmah (50.49 seconds) took fifth and sixth, respectively.
Ford finished 12th in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 59.95 seconds.
The Orange are back in action next weekend at a pair of meets. Some members of the team will head to Clemson's Bob Pollock Invitational, and others will head to Boston for the John Thomas Invitational.
