Buchanan Joins Inter Milan

MILAN, ITALY – Former Syracuse forward Tajon Buchanan has joined Football Club Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) of the Serie A League, following a transfer from Club Brugge KV in Belgium. Buchanan is the first Canadian player in Inter Milan's 115-year history and first Canadian international in Serie A history.

Buchanan played two seasons at Syracuse, scoring 12 goals and recording 30 points across 33 matches. In 2017, the Brampton, Ontario, native was named to the All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team. Buchanan broke out during his sophomore campaign, posting eight goals and 20 points en route to All-ACC First Team, All-ECAC First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team honors. Following the 2018 season, Buchanan signed a Generation adidas contract and was selected ninth overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution.

Buchanan played parts of three seasons with New England (2019-21), totaling 60 matches and 34 starts. During the 2021 campaign, the Canadian product scored eight goals and tallied 21 points in 27 contests, earning a nomination to the 2021 MLS All-Star Game and member of the 2021 MLS Best XI. Buchanan then signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Club Brugge in the Belgian First Division A League. With Club Brugge, the forward appeared in 52 matches, making 45 starts, scoring three goals and registering seven assists.

Internationally, Buchanan has played for Team Canada since 2021, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with former teammate and current Portland Timbers defender Kamal Miller. Buchanan assisted on Alphonso Davies' goal, giving Canada its first goal in FIFA World Cup history.
