Syracuse Travels to Norfolk State

NORFOLK, VA. – Syracuse begins a stretch of seven games in the state of Virginia, starting with four games in Norfolk March 11-12. The Orange play Le Moyne and Norfolk State on Monday before squaring off with Quinnipiac and Norfolk State on Tuesday.

First pitches are slated for 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both contests against Norfolk State will air live on nuspartans.com.

ORANGE UPDATE:

Syracuse plays on Monday and Tuesday consecutively for the first time since the 2003 season. The Orange played Evansville, Binghamton, Colorado State and Penn March 10 and 11, 2003 in the UCF Tournament.
Syracuse enters play with an 8-9 overall record in 2024. The Orange have allowed three-or-fewer runs in 10 contests, including four shutouts.
The Orange were swept by Duke March 2-3 to open Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Sophomore Madison Knight threw a season-high 6.0 innings in the series finale at Duke. Knight allowed three runs across 8.1 total frames against the Blue Devils.
Senior Angel Jasso has 151 career hits and 41 career multi-hit contests. Jasso is four multi-hit performances away from cracking the top-10 in all-time multi-hit games. Jasso's 44 career stolen bases ranks sixth in program history.
Senior Lindsey Hendrix is one win shy of tying Jocelyn Carter (2014-16) for tenth all-time in career victories. Hendrix is currently tied with Erin Downey (2005-07) with 58 career games started, which is good for seventh.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:

Norfolk State holds a 1-18 record this season. The Spartans are led by Rylie Gilbreath, who is batting .358 on the year. In the circle, Lauren Sheehan paces the staff with a 2.95 ERA in 21.2 innings.
Le Moyne is 1-10 in 2024. Audrey Benderski leads the offense with a .438 average and five doubles.
Quinnipiac is 5-2 entering the weekend. Sydney Horan has accounted for 30.1 of the team's 47.0 innings pitched in the circle this season, striking out 30 batters to go along with a 2.31 ERA.

SERIES HISTORY:
Syracuse plays Norfolk State for the first time in program history. The Orange have squared off with both Le Moyne and Quinnipiac once. Syracuse beat Le Moyne, 7-0, on April 28, 2000 and defeated Quinnipiac, 10-0, in five innings, on March 9, 2008.
