
Syracuse Heads to Longtime Rival Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – Syracuse travels to Massachusetts to play Boston College March 22 and 24 at the Boston College Softball Field.

Due to impending weather in the Boston area, a doubleheader is being played on Friday, beginning at 2 p.m. The second game of the twin bill will start 45 minutes following the conclusion of game one. Both games will air live on ACC Network Extra. Sunday's single game is slated for 3 p.m. and will broadcast on ACC Network.

Syracuse and Boston College have met 32 times in program history dating back to the Big East. Boston College has a 19-13 edge in the all-time series, including five straight wins. The Orange beat the Eagles twice in their inaugural season, 2-1 and 4-2 in 11 innings. Syracuse's longest game in program history occurred against Boston College, a 6-5 victory in 14 innings on April 20, 2002.

- Syracuse lost the final two games at Virginia, 2-1 and 7-2, after beating the Cavaliers in the first game of the series, 6-1, for their first win in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
- The Orange went 5-2 on the week, having won four games in Norfolk, Va., against Norfolk State, Quinnipiac and Le Moyne.
- In the team's 6-1 victory at Virginia, head coach Shannon Doepking earned her 200th career win at the Division I level.
- Junior Laila Morales-Alves has a seven-game hitting streak, the longest of her career. The catcher is batting .400 (6-for-15) in conference play.
- Sophomore Madison Knight went 2-0 in two starts last week, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out 11 in 12.0 innings. Knight has 1.83 ERA in 15.1 frames during ACC action. Knight and senior Lindsey Hendrix both have sub-3.00 ERAs in 2024. Knight holds a 2.88 ERA in 41.1 innings while Hendrix paces the staff with a 2.32 ERA in 45.1 frames.
- Syracuse will play its second conference doubleheader of the season. The Orange played a twin bill at Duke in the team's conference-opening weekend earlier this month.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Boston College is 18-8 this season and 1-2 in conference play. The Eagles are on a six-game winning streak since beginning its home slate.
- Hannah Slike paces the offense with a .349 AVG (30-for-86), with 13 runs scored and 12 extra-base hits. Nicole Glery has also crossed the plate 13 times and is tied for the ACC lead with 11 doubles.
- The Eagles' pitching staff has a 1.37 ERA in 179 innings. Abby Dunning leads the staff with an 8-4 record, eight complete games and 100 strikeouts in 83.2 frames. Dunning has posted a 0.92 ERA and held opponents to a .174 batting average. Dunning is top-5 in ERA, wins and saves while pacing the conference in innings pitched, complete games and strikeouts.
