Orange Complete Day One at UVA Invite

Eighth-ranked Syracuse won one race, placed second in three and a posted third place finish on the first day of racing at the UVA Invite on Saturday, April 13 in Lake Monticello, Va. The Orange raced #4 Cal and #17 Oregon State and will face #1 Stanford on Sunday, with racing set to start at 8 am.

The Orange third varsity eight beat Oregon State in the first race of the afternoon. Coxswain Dana Shearer guided the boat that included stroke Annabelle McCulloch, Emma Cloud, Taylor Lewandowski, Kelly Brown, Maddy Gisby, Haley Minnick, Cassandra Dasco and bow Maddi Segarnick, to a victory against Oregon State. The Orange posted a time of 6:36.2, ahead of OSU (7:01.9).

The varsity eight was second, ahead of Oregon State and behind Cal. Coxswain Caileigh Grimes, stroke Emmie Frederico, Ellie-Kate Hutchinson, Alena Criss, Zoe Acosta, Kami Kralikaite, India Aikens, Aphrodite Gioulekas and bow Izabela Krakic covered the course in 6:19.7. Cal had a time of 6:15.1 and Oregon State finished in 6:26.7

Syracuse's second varsity eight took second (6:27.0), finishing behind Cal (6:24.0) and ahead of Oregon State (6:35.4). Coxswain April Serrano directed the boat that included stroke Elizabeth Vogt, Kaitlyn Dennis, Olivia Bachert, Lena Radke, Alice McNeill, Charlotte Ebel, Grace Loveridge and bow Mae Sweeney

The Orange varsity four finished the race in 7:13.7 taking second behind Cal (7:03.9) and ahead of Oregon State (7:13.9). Coxswain Chloe Van de Meulebroecke, stroke Nora Radke, Haley Uliasz, Aicha Abdelaziz and bow Lauren Coop rowed in the varsity four.

The second varsity four finished third in a time of 7:18.3 behind Cal (7:12.1) and Oregon State (7:15.4). The 2V8 included coxswain Isabelle DeSantis, stroke Sarah Haney, Kelsey Boswell, Minaya Bishop and bow Lea Dahn.
