Game Coverage:
Men's Rowing Hosts Cornell, Navy for Goes Trophy Saturday
4/18/2024 11:36:00 AM | Men's Rowing
The Syracuse men's rowing team will host its first race since 2019 on Saturday, April 20, when the Orange welcome Cornell and Navy to Ten Eyck Boathouse for the Tip Goes Trophy Race. The No. 7 Orange line up with No. 11 Navy and No. 14 Cornell beginning at 8 a.m. for the Varsity Eight race. Fans unable to make it to the race can watch live online through the ESPN App.
Syracuse aims to defend its run of hoisting both the Goes Trophy (varsity eight race) and the Stagg Trophy (team points). The Orange claimed both cups in each of the last three times the race was contested (2019, 2022, 2023) and has won the Stagg Trophy four-straight times dating back to 2018. Neither cup was contested in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
The Syracuse enters the race on Saturday ranked #7 in the latest IRCA/IRA Men's Varsity 8 Poll thanks to a successful showing at the Pac-12 Invite two weeks ago. The varsity eight has shuffled since their last outing, as Alex Degrado now sits seven seat. Ethan Graham will race in the second varsity eight, along with senior coxswain Mark Ezaki. The third varsity and fourth varsity boats will make their first appearance this season as well and the racing with conclude with a coxed four race at 9:20 a.m.
Following the races, there will be a trophy presentation at Ten Eyck Boathouse beginning at approximately 9:45 a.m.Â
