#9 Orange Battle #1 California to Wrap Up Pac-12 Invite

The Syracuse men's rowing team wrapped up the Pac-12 Invite with a strong showing against defending IRA Champion California on Sunday morning in Redwood Shores, Calif.

"I thought we had a good weekend," Dave Reischman said. "You could see both boats gaining confidence with each race. We still have a lot of work in front of us but this weekend was a good first step."

In the varsity eight race, No. 1 Cal was quick off the start line taking an immediate lead that the Bears wouldn't surrender. No. 9 Syracuse, coxed by Michael Harris, finished the 2,000-meter course in 5:41.5, three seconds behind Cal (5:38.5). Syracuse raced the same 1V8 lineup against Cal as they did for Saturday's race vs. Oregon State.

In the 2V8, California emerged victorious finishing in 5:46.4 while the Orange crossed the line in 5:53.2 The crew was led by coxswain Joseph Biondolillo while Max McFadden and Payton Gauthier moved back into the lineup for the race vs. the Bears.

Syracuse returns to action for its first home race since 2019 when the Orange host Cornell and Navy for the Goes Trophy Race on April 20 at Ten Eyck Boathouse on the shores of Onondaga Lake and the Seneca River.
