
Mashewske Earns National Player of the Week Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse graduate student Kate Mashewske is this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her record-breaking performance in the NCAA Tournament second round. Mashewske recorded 20 draw controls in the victory against Stony Brook, which is a program single-game record.

Mashewske had stretches of eight-straight draw controls in the first half and seven in the second, helping the Orange win 22-of-29 draws in the game. The 20 draw controls tie for the most by a Division I player this season.

The West Henrietta, New York native ranks third in the nation in draw controls per game (10.25) this season. Mashewske is the ninth Division I player to record 500 career draw controls and currently ranks fifth on the NCAA career leader list with 528.
