
ACC Championships Begin for Track

The postseason is here for the Syracuse track and field teams. The Orange are in Atlanta, Georgia, getting ready for the ACC Championships. The event will run from Thursday – Saturday at Georgia Tech.

ORANGE ENTRIES:
Men's 400-meter hurdles prelims | 6 p.m. Thursday
Elijah Mallard and Xayvion Perkins both enter the meet with two of the top-nine times in the conference this season and will race in the second of three preliminary heats. The winner of each heat, plus the next-five fastest times advance to the finals.
Mallard, who ranks fourth in the league, ran a time of 51.32 seconds at the Tom Jones Memorial last month, while Perkins' best time came at the Bobcat Invitational (52.47) in March, and ranks ninth.
North Carolina's Craig Saddler II is the top-ranked ACC competitor heading into the meet at 49.76 seconds.
Women's 400-meter hurdles prelims | 6:20 p.m. Thursday
Shaleah Colaire has the fifth-best time in the conference to date this season in this event (59.12 seconds), which she set on April 12.
She will also race in heat two-of-three, and the same qualification process from the men's event will also apply.
Men's 200-meter dash prelims | 6:40 p.m. Thursday
Another event the Orange have one of the top-10 times in, Trei Thorogood leads the way for 'Cuse with his season-best mark of 20.88 seconds. 0.4 seconds off the conference lead, which is currently held by Clemson's Cameron Rose.
Thorogood will race in the second of four heats. Rose and Pitt's Nigel Hussey (20.85) are the top seed times in the heat. The winner of each heat plus the next four fastest times will advance.
Men's 1,500-meter run prelims | 7:20 p.m. Thursday
Benne Anderson (3:40.59 season best) will race for the Orange in heat one. He currently holds the eighth-best mark in the conference this season.
Ruben Rojas-Betanzos will then compete in heat three. Twelve runners will advance to Saturday – the top three in each heat, plus three qualifiers based on time. Anderson enters with the second-best time in his 13-man heat this season, trailing North Carolina's Ethan Strand.
Men's 10,000-meter run final | 8:10 p.m. Thursday
The first event final on the track of the weekend, the Orange have a large contingent entered. Entering the meet, the Orange hold three of the top-nine, five of the top-20 and six of the top-25 times in the conference in the event this season.
Perry Mackinnon (28:24.38), who holds the school record in the event and has the ACC's third-best 10k time this season, is only entered in the 5k this weekend, but a strong group of competitors remains.
Paul O'Donnell, Sam Lawler, Ethan Wechsler, Alex Comerford, Silas Derfel and Assaf Harari will be part of the 33-man field for the final. O'Donnell and Comerford have the third and fourth-best season-best time this season in the field, respectively. Alex Phillip of North Carolina holds the top mark.
Women's 10,000-meter run final | 8:50 p.m. Thursday
Savannah Roark, Ellie Lawler and Siobhan O'Keefe will race in the final event of night one. Roark owns the second-best time in the field, trailing just Erin Strzelecki, and Lawler is fourth heading into the meet.
The field features just 20 runners this season.
Men's 110-meter hurdles prelims | 6 p.m. Friday
Five of the 14 qualifiers are members of the Orange in the 110-meter hurdles. ACC indoor champion Jaheem Hayles enters as the meet favorite – holding a season-best mark nearly 0.2 seconds clear of the rest of the field.
The event will feature two heats, with the winner of each and the next-six fastest times advancing to Saturday. Naseem Smith and Emanuel Joseph will race in heat one, followed by Hayles, Anthony Vazquez and Isaiah Lewis.
Women's 100-meter hurdles prelims | 6:25 p.m. Friday
Taleea Buxton, who was an All-ACC performer as a true freshman in indoor this season, and Shaleah Colaire will race in the three-heat prelims.
Buxton will race in the second heat, where she has the third-best seed time, followed by Colaire in the third heat, who is tied for the second-fastest time in hers.
The winner of each heat, plus the next-five fastest times advance to Saturday.
Men's 100-meter dash prelims | 7:15 p.m. Friday
Trei Thorogood and James Nmah will both race in heat one of the three-heat 100-meter dash prelims. Thorogood owns the third-best time in the heat.
The winner of each, plus five runners based on time, will advance to Saturday.
Women's 100-meter dash prelims | 7:30 p.m.
Kitna Burgard and Kaleia Arrington will race in the first and second heats, respectively, of the three-heat prelims.
Burgard is tied for the second-fastest seed time in her heat, where the winner of each heat plus five runners based on time advance.
Men's 3,000-meter steeplechase final | 8:25 p.m. Friday
Friday's final will be in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where Julian Franjieh will compete in the 21-man field. Franjieh has the 12th-best time in the field this season.
Women's 3,000-meter steeplechase final | 8:45 p.m. Friday
Madison Neuner and Bethany Steiner will race in the 18-woman final to close the meet on Friday. Neuner (10:07.67) has the fifth-best time in the field heading into the event.
Men's 4x100-meter relay final | 5 p.m. Saturday
The final day will kickoff with the 4x100-meter relay. The Orange are one of eight teams entered in the event, which is a one heat race.
Women's 4x100-meter relay final | 5:10 p.m. Saturday
The 'Cuse women will also race as one of eight teams in the 4x1.

Qualifiers from Thursday and Friday's heats will race between 5:10 and 7:40 p.m. in event finals.
Men's 5,000-meter final | 7:40 p.m. Saturday

O'Donnell already owns and ACC 5k championship from 2022 indoors and Mackinnon was an All-ACC performer during this year's indoor championships. Anderson and Ackley both have run sub-14 minute times this season as well.

Ellie Lawler, Savannah Roark and Olivia Joly are entered for the SU women. Lawler and Roark will double after their 10k races on Thursday.
Roark also hasn't run a 5k yet this season, but scored in the event at the indoor championships in February.
Men's 4x400-meter relay final | 8:30Â p.m. Saturday
The final event on the track for the men, the Orange are in section 1 of the 4x400-meter relay. There are two sections to the event, with times determining the winner and scoring.
