CHICAGO – Syracuse All-American Miles Robinson is one of 18 players who were named to the U.S. Olympic Men's Soccer Team that will compete later this month in Paris. Head coach Marko Mitrović announced the squad on Monday, July 8.
Â
Robinson was on the U.S. roster for the Copa America, but didn't get any playing time as the U.S. was eliminated in the group stage. He was a key contributor to the squad's run-up to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but missed the event with an injury. Robinson, who has 29 international caps, scored the game-winning goal in overtime that beat Mexico in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
Â
A native of Arlington, Massachusetts, Robinson starred for the Orange for two seasons before signing a Generation adidas contract after his sophomore season. He was the No. 2 overall selection by Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. During his two seasons at Syracuse, Robinson started all 42 matches in which he played and helped the Orange to 19 shutouts. He had four goals in both 2015 and 2016 and posted 17 points in his career.
Robinson was a semifinalist for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Award, which is the highest honor in collegiate soccer. He earned NSCAA All-America First Team honors and was voted the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Â
Robinson is in his first year with FC Cincinnati after spending seven seasons with Atlanta United, which he helped win the MLS Cup in 2018.
Â
The Olympic Men's Soccer Tournament is restricted to players under the age of 23, with an allowance for three overage players, which includes Robinson. The U.S. will begin play on July 24 against host France before taking on New Zealand on July 27. The squad finishes the group stage against Guinea on July 30.
