TORONTO – Syracuse men's soccer alum Nate Edwards has signed a contract with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer (MLS), the club announced on Tuesday afternoon. The defender's contract runs through the 2025 season, with options for 2026 and 2027.
In February of this year, Edwards signed a contract with Toronto's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Toronto FC II, and has since spent the MLS NEXT Pro campaign as a top performer with the club. Prior to his first-team deal, he tallied one goal and two assists in 22 matches. He also made one appearance for Toronto FC in the 2024 Canadian Championship.
Edwards, who played wing-back during his time with the Orange, was one of four players to start in all 21 matches during the 2023 season. He also added one goal and four assists, totaling career-highs in assists and points during the campaign. The Brampton, Ontario, native appeared in 1,602 minutes on the pitch and 60-or-more minutes in 19 matches.
Before coming to Central New York, Edwards spent three seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne where he appeared in 40 matches, making 39 starts, tallying two goals and one assist with the Mastodons.
