
Syracuse Defeated By Virginia Tech, 4-3

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 68 Syracuse women's tennis team (8-8, 1-8 ACC) was outmatched by No. 60 Virginia Tech (12-10, 1-9 ACC), 4-3, in a back-and-forth battle Friday evening at Drumlins Country Club.
After Syracuse lost the doubles point against Virginia Tech, they gained momentum in singles play when Miyuka Kimoto defeated her opponent, tying the match at 1-1. Serafima Shastova followed the victory with one herself pushing the Orange in the lead, 2-1.
At the No. 5 position, Hokies player, Arina Gamretkaia tied the score again, 2-2, but Monika Wojcik answered slighty after with a win, creating a 3-2 result. ITA's No. 35 ranked played Ozlem Uslu tied the match once again at 3-3.
Semre Aksu clinched the match for The Hokies, which allowed them to earn their first conference win of the season.
THE RUNDOWN
Senior night will be hosted on Sunday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Drumlins Country Club against No. 5 Virginia. We will be honoring Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito before the match.

- Wojcik and Shastova appeared at the No. 3 doubles spot for the 11th time this season and earned their sixth win as a pairing after defeating Mila Mulready and Linda Ziets-Segura, 6-2.
- Shiori Ito and Nelly Knezkova played for the eighth time today as a duo and so did Kimoto and Anastasia Sysoeva.
- Kimoto, Shastova, and Wojcik added to Syracuse's final score with wins from singles play. Wojcik still leads the team with 11 victories, Shastova follows with nine, then Kimoto with seven.
- Three of the six singles matches went into a third set.
- The Hokies now lead the all-time series 9-8 against the Orange.
