
Orange to Face Brown in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Syracuse has earned an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament and will take on Brown in the first round on Friday, May 9 at 4 p.m. in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Orange will make their 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the fourth under the direction of head coach Kayla Treanor. Syracuse has an all-time record of 28-21 In tournament play. The Orange have advanced to Championship Weekend 10 times, including the past two seasons, and played in the national championship game in 2012, 2014 and 2021.

Syracuse enters the national tournament with a 9-8 overall record. The Orange faced one of the toughest schedules in the nation, with 12 games against top-25 opponents, including five against top-five foes.

Brown also earned an at-large bid after posting a 10-6 overall record, including a 4-3 mark in Ivy League play. The Bears, led by former Syracuse assistant coach Katrina Dowd, lost to Princeton in the league tournament semifinals, 17-16. Friday's game will be just the second all-time meeting between the two teams. The Orange defeated Brown, 19-6, on March 30, 2005 in the JMA Wireless Dome.

Syracuse was one of seven teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to make the NCAA Tournament field. Overall, the Orange faced 11 teams that will play in this year's national tournament.

The winner of Friday's game will take on either UAlbany or Yale in the second round on Sunday, May 11. The Orange faced both teams during the regular season. Syracuse defeated the Great Danes, 21-9, in the season opener, and lost to Yale, 13-10 in April.
