
Four Orange Newcomers Named to Nike Inside Lacrosse Top-50 Freshmen List

Inside Lacrosse released its Top-50 Freshmen list for the high school class of 2026 on Tuesday afternoon and the Orange saw four newcomers named to the list. Peyton Rothfuss leads the group, coming in at No. 11 on the list followed by Casey Cummings at No. 27, Sophia Cuteño at No. 42 and Maci Mueller at No. 43. Four recognitions inside of the top-50 is tied for the fifth-most of any program in the nation.

Rothfuss, an Inside Lacrosse five-star freshman from Penfield, NY, brings 245 goals, 126 assists and 443 draw controls during her high school career with her to The Hill. She was named a USA Lacrosse All-American in 2025 and 2026 and was named to the New Balance All-America Senior Game. She racked up regional recognition as well, earning the Democrat and Chronicle's All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year honor on top of four First Team All-League distinctions. Rothfuss served as a captain during her junior and senior seasons at Penfield High School.

Casey Cummings, another Inside Lacrosse five-star prospect, comes to Syracuse after a decorated career at Nyack High School. The newcomer piled up 244 goals, 198 assists and 481 draw controls, a Nyack High School record in the circle. Cummings played in the New Balance All-America Senior Game and was named a two-time All-American. She compiled a number of regional awards, including four-time All-Section and All-County while being named team MVP in 2025 and 2026. She also served as a team captain in 2026 as a senior.

Sophia Cuteño, hailing from Reseda, California, slots in at No. 42 in the class. While playing for the Marlborough School, Cuteño tallied 273 goals, 122 assists, 85 ground balls and 194 draw controls. She helped lead her team to a CIF Division I Championship in 2024 after being named Player of the Year. She earned national recognition as a three-time USA Lacrosse All-American. Cuteño played in the Adrenaline Lacrosse All-America Senior Day and helped lead the South Team to a win with four goals and an assist.

Mueller rounds out the list for the Orange. She is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy where she holds both the scoring and points record, which she set before her senior season. She was named an All-American and a two-time Finger Lakes Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025. Mueller is a native of Waterloo, New York.
