2008: Played in 12 games, starting one • Made her first start of the 2008 season in 7-1 victory at Rutgers • Scored her first goal of the season in 10-0 win against New Hampshire.
2007: Recorded her first career assist in SU’s 4-3 win against Dartmouth • Had an assist in the 8-1 victory versus Georgetown • Registered another assist in the Orange’s 3-1 win at No. 12 American.
2006: Saw action in 19 games, starting 15 as a forward • Scored three goals • Second on the team with a .333 shot percentage • Scored the game-winning goal against Quinnipiac • Selected to participate in USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Training program • Competed in the United States High Performance Nationals.
2005: Played in 16 games • Started the first four games of her rookie season • Recorded first collegiate goal against Colgate • Took four shots on goal for the season • Named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the fall and spring semesters • BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
High School: Team-captain at Conestoga Valley High School • Scored 12 goals and had 11 assists her senior season • Recorded 30 goals and 24 assists throughout her career • Named Lancaster/Lebanon League First Team All-Star and the league MVP • Earned team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player award in 2003 and 2004.
Personal: Born August 1987 in Newport News, Va. • Daughter of Dan and Lori Shannon • One brother and one sister • Niece of former SU field hockey player Lynn Esbenshade McEvoy (1984-87) • Majoring in broadcast journalism.
Ambitions in hockey? To win the BIG EAST Championship in 2008.
Strengths on the field? Speed and work ethic.
Why did you choose SU? What sold me on Syracuse was the team, just how close and dedicated they all were. I felt like I fit in immediately.
