Abby Crumpton served as an assistant women's soccer coach at SU in 2010 and 2011. Crumpton was an All-American and Herman Award finalist at the University of Michigan and played in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) in its inaugural season.
Crumpton, Michigan’s all-time leading scorer, earned All-Big Ten First Team honors from 1999-2002. She was named a finalist for the Herman Award and won the Big Ten Player of the Year award in 2002 when she led Michigan in points (35), goals (11) and assists (13). Crumpton was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Second Team after leading the Wolverines to their highest final ranking and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in the program’s history.
Following her successful collegiate career, Crumpton was drafted in the second round of the 2003 Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) by the Atlanta Beat. She played in 18 of 21 games for the Beat during the 2003 season. Crumpton played for the Charlotte Eagles of the W-League in 2007 and 2008 and spent last season as a member of Boston Breakers of the WPS.
In addition, Crumpton also has national team experience. She was a member of the 2002 United States U-21 National Team that won the Nordic Cup.
Crumpton served as an assistant coach at Western Michigan last season. She has also worked as an assistant coach at Liberty, Michigan and Clemson. Crumpton also has head coaching experience. She led the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford program in 2004 and served as head coach at Anderson University in South Carolina in 2006.
At Syracuse, Crumpton will assist with all aspects of the Orange program, including day-to-day operations, recruiting, team training and the student-athletes’ academic progress.
