Associate head coach Derryk Williams joined the Syracuse Volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2018 as an assistant coach and was promoted to his current position in the spring of 2021. Prior to arriving at Syracuse, Williams had stints at Hamilton College, Colgate and Ithaca College.Â
During Williams’ first season at Syracuse, the Orange earned the program’s first NCAA tournament invitation and beat Yale in the first round. Syracuse ranked second nationally in blocks (3.08/set) and was one of two schools to have two players ranked in the top 30 in the country in blocks per set.

Williams began his coaching career at Ithaca College in 2015. During his season on the sidelines at IC, the Bombers won the Empire 8 Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament semifinals. In 2016 he became an assistant coach at Colgate. The Raiders finished with a 36-22 record during his two seasons, and advanced to the Patriot League tournament championship game in 2016 and to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) in 2017.

In 2017, Williams was the assistant coach at Hamilton College while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach with Raiders in 2017. At Hamilton, he helped the program to its highest conference wins total and best seed in the NESCAC Tournament in program history.

A 2015 Ithaca College graduate, Williams played two seasons with the Bombers' men's tennis team before serving as a two-year captain of the club volleyball program. He earned a bachelor's degree in television/radio with a minor in coaching.
