
Syracuse Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Late BC Rally For A 10-9 Win

Eighth-ranked Syracuse women’s lacrosse held off a Boston College rally to win its third game of the season,10-9, on Friday night at Bentley College.
With the win, the Orangewomen (3-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) earn its first BIG EAST victory, while the Eagles (2-3, 0-2 BIG EAST) remain winless in the conference.
After early goals by sophomore Leigh-Ann Zimmer (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) and junior Jessica Trombley (Kueka Park, NY/Pen Yan Academy), BC responded with three of its own to take an early 3-2 advantage. The Orangewomen unleashed five straight goals to enter half ahead, 7-3.
Sophomore Danielle Lillis (West Islip, NY/West Islip) gave SU its largest lead of the game, 8-3, with an unassisted tally. Boston College would score six goals in the second period, coming within one, 9-8, with two minutes left in the game. Senior tri-captain Carrie Soults (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day) scored the final two goals of the game to help SU seal the win.
Soults led the Orangewomen scoring with three goals, and Lillis notched two and dished out an assist.
Syracuse returns to action on Sunday, March 24 when it faces Massachusetts at noon.
