
No. 6 Cornell Defeats No. 16 Orangewomen, 13-6

ITHACA, N.Y. – Sixth-ranked Cornell scored eight goals in the second half to defeat No. 16 Syracuse, 13-6, on Wednesday night at Schoellkopf Field.
The Big Red (9-1) had three different players record hat tricks and forced 16 Syracuse (7-5) turnovers.
Syracuse tied the game after each of its first three goals but was never able to take the lead.
Junior Jess Trombley scored her second goal of the game at the 33:53 mark to bring SU within one, 5-4, but Cornell rattled off the next three goals to stay ahead of the Orangewomen. Cornell scored five of the last seven goals to take the win.
Junior Carla Gigon (Hingham, MA/Hingham) became the all-time saves leader at SU with 12 saves in the game. She now has 291 career saves in her three years at Syracuse. She moved ahead of Clothilde Ewing ’00 who had 285 stops.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, April 20 when it faces Boston University at 2 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
