
Perry Scores 1,000th Point in SU Overtime Loss

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - West Virginia's Kate Bulger hit a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left in overtime to give the Mountaineers a 77-74 win against the Syracuse women's basketball team on Wednesday night at WVU Coliseum.
West Virginia improves to 15-10 and 4-10 in the BIG EAST, while Syracuse stands at 9-16 and 4-10 in the conference. The Orangewomen have played in a school-record four overtime games this season.
Shannon Perry recorded the 1,000 point of her career in the first half. She finished with 14 points in the game. She completed her 13th double-double of the season with 13 rebounds. Perry is the 16th Orangewoman ever to score 1,000 career points and only the fifth junior to reach the mark.
Bulger recorded a career high with 36 points, including 21 in the first half. Julie McBride and Rochelle Coleman led Syracuse with 19 points each.
The Orangewomen trailed by as much as nine, 53-44, with 11:40 left in the second half. Coleman and McBride hit back-to-back threes to bring SU within three, 53-50, with 10:26 on the clock. Syracuse took its first lead since the opening minutes of the second half, 61-60, after a basket by Perry with 1:31 left in regulation. Perry gave Syracuse the lead two more times before a layup by West Virginia's Eartha White tied the game at 64-64 to force overtime.
McBride gave Syracuse a three-point advantage in overtime, 68-65, with a jumper at the 3:12 mark. Bulger scored WVU's final eight points, including the game-winning three to secure the victory.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, March 1 when it faces Pittsburgh at 6 p.m. in Manley Field House.
