
Zimmer Ties Career High In Orangewomen's 14-6 Win

SYRACUSE, NY - Junior Leigh-Ann Zimmer tied a career high with six points to lead the Syracuse women’s lacrosse team to a 14-6 win against Boston College on Friday night in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse increased its record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST, while BC stands at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The Orangewomen extend their lead in the all-time series against the Eagles to 6-0.
Zimmer tied a career high with six points (four goals, two assists) and extended her scoring streak to 28 games. Sophomore Jessica Bell recorded a career high with four points, and freshman Meghan O’Connell scored the her first two collegiate goals in her first start as an Orangewomen. Senior Kim Wayne dished out three assists and added one goal.
For the first time this season, SU’s opponent scored the opening goal. The Orangewomen responded with three goals to take a 3-1 advantage at 10:13. SU scored five of the next eight goals to hold an 8-4 halftime lead.
The SU defense limited BC to only two goals in the second half. The Orangewomen connected for six more goals, including three by Bell and two by junior Danielle Lillis to seal the win.
SU outshot the Eagles, 32-15, and held the advantage in groundballs, 22-11.
Susie Breaznell and Courtney Legath led Boston College with two points each.
Syracuse returns to action on Sunday, March 23 when it faces Massachusetts at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
