Orange Concludes Six-Game Homestand

SYRACUSE – The sixth-ranked Syracuse University field hockey team concludes its six-game homestand this weekend. The Orange hosts BIG EAST foe Georgetown on Fri., Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. and Dartmouth on Sun., Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
Syracuse remains undefeated against Georgetown, dominating the series, 8-0. The Orange has outscored the Hoyas, 49-5, in the eight meetings. SU defeated G'Town, 16-0 last season. Syracuse set five game records in that contest, including points (9, Shannon Taylor) and assists (3, Shannon Taylor) by an individual and team goal (16), goals combined (16) and goals in a half (11).
Syracuse pushed its win streak to eight and improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in BIG EAST play after defeating No. 9 Massachusetts 5-2 on Oct. 3 and shutting out No. 20 Albany 1-0 on Oct. 4. Junior forward Lindsey Conrad has recorded a team-best 23 points off a team-high nine goals and five assists. Sophomore midfielder Martina Loncarica and freshman back Amy Kee lead the team in assists with seven and six, respectively. Freshman goalkeeper Leann Stiver has a goal-against-average of 1.20 and a saves percentage of .789 in the cage for the Orange.
The Hoyas lost a pair of games last week, losing to No. 5 Connecticut 6-1 on Oct. 2 and losing at Richmond 2-0 on Oct. 4. Freshman goalkeeper Clodagh Coghlan made 13 saves in each game, while sophomore Meggie Taylor tallied GU's only goal. Kristen Volpe has recorded a team-best 17 points off a team-high seven goals and three assists. Annika Bannon has dished out a team-best four assists. Coghlan has a 2.83 goals-against-average and a saves percentage of .689.
