
Orange Visits Binghamton Tuesday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange (19-10, 8-5) visits in-state foe Binghamton (12-14, 2-5 America East) on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. for its final non-conference match of the season. Syracuse is 11-5 in non-conference action this season and an undefeated 6-0 against New York based opponents.

Last Time Out: BIG EAST Bid Secured
Syracuse secured its third-straight BIG EAST Tournament bid with a 3-0 sweep of DePaul on Friday before ending its weekend with a hard-fought, 3-1 loss to league leading Notre Dame.
Senior middle blocker Sarah Morton powered SU both offensively and defensively, posting 21 kills to average 3.00 kills per set and 16 total blocks to average 2.29 blocks per set. Junior middle blocker Hayley Todd was second on the team with 15 kills and nine total blocks while senior outside hitter Annabelle Pellerin posted 13 kills. Freshman setter Laura Homann continued to direct the Syracuse attack, dishing out 70 assists for a 10.00 assists-per-set-average.
Syracuse-Binghamton Series
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Binghamton, 16-2, which dates back to 1972. The Orange has won the last 12 meetings between the two teams, most recently defeating the Bearcats, 3-2, on Nov. 9, 2008 in Syracuse.
Scouting the Bearcats
Binghamton enters Tuesday's match with at 12-14 overall, including a 2-5 mark in America East conference play after snapping a five-match losing skid with a 3-0 sweep of UMBC on Saturday.
The Bearcats employ a two-headed attack with junior outside hitters Anna Lejina and Michelle McDonough leading the offense with 357 and 356 kills on the season, respectively. Junior setter Lindsey Mueller directs the Binghamton offense in a 5-1 formation, having dished out 927 assists on the season to average 9.97 helpers per game.
Defensively, senior libero Brianna Strong leads the back row defense with 408 digs while McDonough is second with 238 back row pick-ups. Senior middle blocker Dawn Lammert is the defensive leader at the net, with 76 total blocks on the season.
