
SU Meets Louisville in BIG EAST Tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 5 Syracuse (21-10, 9-5) volleyball team squares off against No. 4 Louisville (17-10, 10-4) in the BIG EAST Championship on Friday, November 20 at 6 p.m. in the Kentucky Convention Center.

Last Time Out: Senior Day Spectacular
The Orange wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 3-0 sweep of conference foe Villanova last Friday, securing the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament. Syracuse makes its third-straight BIG EAST conference tournament appearance in 2009, marking the first time the Orange has qualified for three-straight postseason tournaments since 1991-93.
Senior middle blocker Sarah Morton led the Orange in her home finale, tallying a match-best 13 kills while sophomore Noemie Lefebvre was second on the team with 10 kills. Junior middle blocker Hayley Todd added eight kills while senior outside hitter Annabelle Pellerin chipped in six. Rookie setter Laura Homann fueled the Syracuse attack, dishing out 38 assists.
Senior defensive specialist Shanetha McLaurin led the back row defense, notching 14 digs while Lefebvre was second on the team with 11 and senior Kacie MacTavish had seven. Morton maintained her billing as the nation's best blocker, posting seven total rejections while Todd and Pellerin each had three.
Orange in the BIG EAST Tournament
The 2009 BIG EAST Championship marks the seventh conference tournament appearance for Syracuse in its 15 seasons under head coach Jing Pu.
The Orange has drawn Louisville in each of its last two BIG EAST Tournament appearances, falling to the Cardinals in the first round of both the 2007 and 2008 championships.
