SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse senior goaltender Lucy Schoedel was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman forward Isabel Menard was tabbed as Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on November 23. The award comes after the Orange swept its two-game series at Robert Morris to improve its record to 6-5-1 on the season.
Schoedel made 32 saves in Friday's 4-0 shutout victory against the Colonials, which was SU's first shutout of the season. In Saturday's victory, she turned away 28 shots. Schoedel recorded a .968 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average over the weekend. Her .915 goals against average and 301 saves this season ranks third in the CHA this year.
Menard was named Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after she had four points in SU's two road wins at RMU. She assisted on the first goal of Friday's game and then scored the next two markers. In Saturday's win, she scored the first goal of the game, which was short-handed. Menard finished the weekend with six shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus rating. Menard is tied on the team in goals with five and is third in assists with six.
The Orange will return to Tennity Ice Pavilion to host a pair of contests against Union on Saturday, November 28 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, November 29 at 2 p.m.
