SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior assistant captain Stefanie Marty and senior assistant captain Lucy Schoedel earned College Hockey America weekly honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday, December 15. It is the fourth consecutive week the Orange has received CHA recognition and the second award this season for both Marty and Schoedel. The award comes after twice defeating Princeton University on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12.
Marty was named CHA Offensive Player of the Week after she contributed on all four of Syracuse's goals in Friday's 4-3 win against Princeton. She tied the game when the Orange was trailing 1-0, and later added a marker when Syracuse was down, 3-1. She tallied assists on the next two power-play goals, including the game-winner. She finished with five shots on goal during the weekend series.
Schoedel was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week after backstopping the Orange to its pair of wins against the Tigers. She turned away 24 shots, while allowing two power-play goals and an even-strength marker in Friday's come-from-behind victory. She saved all 27 shots on Saturday to help the Orange to its 1-0 overtime victory. She had a .944 save percentage and a 1.47 goals-against average over the weekend. Syracuse held the nation's seventh-best power-play to 2-for-11 in the series against Princeton.
The Orange returns to the ice when it plays host to Colgate on Saturday, January 2 at 4 p.m.
