SYRACUSE - The sixth-ranked Syracuse University field hockey team plays its second on six consecutive home games as it hosts Columbia on Sun., Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. Syracuse holds a 1-0 edge in the all-time series against Columbia. The Orange defeated the Lions, 4-0, in the only meeting in Syracuse in 2003.
The Lions (3-3) enter today's contest having one three of their last four outings. Columbia did lose its last outing, 2-1, in double overtime at Cornell yesterday. Christine Buszczak has recorded a team best seven points off a team-high three goals and one assist. Caitlin Mullins has dished out a team-best three assists. Christie O'Hara has a goals-against-average of 2.16 and a saves percentage of .776.
Syracuse improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST Conference with a 2-1 victory versus No. 19 Providence yesterday. Junior forward Lindsey Conrad and freshman back Amy Kee have each registered a team-best 12 points. Conrad has scored a team-high five goals, while Kee has dished out a team-best six assists. Freshman goalkeeper Leann Stiver has a goal-against-average of 1.39 and a saves percentage of .806 in the cage for the Orange.
