The Syracuse men's cross country team placed 2nd at Saturday's Harry Lang Invitational.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior Steve Murdock posted a first-place finish in the men's 6,400-meter run, and sophomore Lauryn MacFawn finished second in the women's 4,400-meter to lead the Orange at the Harry Lang Invitational hosted by Colgate.

Murdock's top time of 20:28 joined sophomore Patrick Geoghegan (3rd, 20:44) to round out SU's top 10 finishes in the 6,400-meter run. Syracuse (40) placed second following Bucknell (26). Other competitors included Colgate (72), Delhi (126), Nazareth (154), and Utica (160).

The Orange women picked up third place (58) in the 4,400-meter run. MacFawn set the pace for Syracuse with a time of 16:22. Senior Stefanie Slekis (3rd, 16:26) completed Syracuse's scores in the top 10. Bucknell (32) won the event, followed by Colgate (44). Nazareth (128), Utica (137), and Delhi (150) placed behind the Orange.

Syracuse will return to Colgate next Saturday, Sept. 19 to take part in the Colgate Invitational.
