Orange Returns Home Friday to Host WVU

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse returns to the SU Soccer Stadium on Friday to host West Virginia at 7 p.m. The game is the first of four consecutive home games for the Orange, which is its longest homestand of the season. Syracuse enters the contest with an overall record of 5-6-3 and a 2-3 mark in BIG EAST play. The Mountaineers, which received 12 votes in this week's NSCAA/Hendrickscars.com rankings, are 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference action. Admission to the game is free of charge.
THE SERIES
Syracuse and West Virginia will meet for the 12th time Friday at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series, 6-3-2. West Virginia currently has an eight-game unbeaten streak against the Orange, with Syracuse's last victory coming in 1998.
THE BIG EAST STANDINGS
The Mountaineers are currently in second place in the BIG EAST American Division standings with 10 points, while the Orange is sixth with six points. The top five teams from the American and National Divisions advance to the BIG EAST Tournament.
HOME SWEET HOME
Syracuse is 3-1-1 on its home field this season and 10-6-4 (.600) since the beginning of the 2008 season. The Orange won five contests at home in 2008, which were the most home wins for Syracuse since the 2004 campaign. The Orange went unbeaten in its first six home games that season.
