
Loncarica, Hahnefeldt and Susek Named All-Americans

SYRACUSE – For the third consecutive year, the Syracuse University field hockey team had three of its members named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Teams. Junior midfielder Martina Loncarica was named to the first team, freshman back Laura Hahnefeldt was named to the second team and junior forward Heather Susek was named to the third team. Loncarica was named to the second team each of the last two seasons, giving SU its first three-time All-American since Julie Williamson. The Orange has a player named to the first team east of the last three seasons.
Loncarica, SU's second three-time All-American in history, was a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team pick. The junior led the 2010 BIG EAST regular-season champion with 29 points, scoring 11 goals and dishing out seven assists. She led the BIG EAST with seven game-winning goals, averaging 0.33 game-winners per contest. Loncarcia is Syracuse's all-time assists leader with 55 and her 117 career points rank second.
Hahnefeldt was named to the BIG EAST Conference Second Team and earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her effort against Villanova. The freshman was also named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her performance at Albany. Hahnefeldt appeared in 20 games, while helping limit opponents to 8.9 shots per game.
Susek scored nine goals and three assists for 21 points. She was named to the BIG EAST Conference Second Team and earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. The junior was also named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for her performances against Old Dominion and Virginia. Susek was also named to the 2009 Longstrenth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region Second Team.
The Orange (16-5) won its third consecutive BIG EAST Championship en route to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearance.
